The Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word in Houston, Texas are called to embody the healing love of the Incarnate Word among the sick, the poor, and the marginalized, with a deep sense of Church that embraces all of God's people. Inspired by the missionary and evangelizing spirit of our founder, we read and respond to the signs of our times and use our gifts in the service of all, especially the vulnerable, the oppressed and afflicted.
The vocation to religious life is a gift from God, an invitation to follow Jesus more closely. As you discern your vocation, be open to the inspiration of the Holy Spirit and pray for guidance. We in the Congregation pray for you daily that you may know God’s Will and have the courage to respond to His invitation. (*Note: This quote comes from the Sisters of Charity of Our Lady, Mother of the Church)
We respond to God’s mission, expressed in the words of Bishop Dubuis,
“Our Lord Jesus Christ, suffering in the persons of a multitude of sick and infirm of every kind, seeks relief at your hands.”
During the last one hundred and fifty years many generous women have answered this call, interpreting it according to the needs of their time.
The call to holiness is rooted in the baptism of each Christian. Today some women choose to respond more deeply and dedicate their lives to following Jesus, poor, chaste and obedient, by vowed consecrated life in the church. Is God calling you to respond to this gift in your life?
